Narn i Chîn Húrin tells the story of Túrin Turambar, a man of the House of Hador in Middle-earth who rose to become a tragic hero of the First Age. Húrin Thalion, Lord of Dor-lómin, and Morwen Eledhwen had only one son, Túrin. His younger sister Urwen was known by everyone as Lalaith due to her laughter. Compared to Túrin, who seemed older than his years and did not say much, Urwen was adored more. Nevertheless, Morwen banned Túrin from mentioning moniker of Urwen, and she perished from a plague in her childhood. Túrin got to know Sador, the one-legged carpenter, well and called him Labadal. Father of Túrin gave him an Elf-wrought sword on the morning of his eighth birthday, but he gave it to Sador instead. Túrin stayed with his mother Morwen after Húrin was taken prisoner in the Nírnaeth Arnoediad. She shielded him from the Easterlings that Morgoth had sent to Hithlum out of concern that they would either kill or enslave him. At that moment, Túrin was unaware that Morgoth had cursed entire family of Húrin.
