Mother of Fëanor, Míriel Therindë, also known as Míriel Serindë, was the first wife of Finwë, the High King of the Ñoldor. Hair of Miriel was said to have a silvery appearance, which was peculiar for a Ñoldor. Because of her exceptional proficiency in needlework and weaving, she was given the amilessë or mother-name Þerindë, the Broideress. Sometime during the Noontide of Valinor, Míriel wed Finwë, and the two of them resided in Tirion. Míriel gave birth to a boy in YT 1169 who she named Curufinwë, or Fëanáro. She was unable to continue living after giving birth to him and longed to pass away, but she was powerless to do so because she was an elf and was eternal within Arda. She voluntarily gave up her desire to live on in the mortal world as she reached the Halls of Mandos and passed away in peace in his gardens in YT 1170. The maidens of Estë took care of her body, which is why it was preserved. The Valar found her death to be appalling; it ultimately prompted the second marriage of Finwë , which in turn sparked the Ñoldor Rebellion and the First Kinslaying. Míriel was allowed to resurrect after Finwë was killed, and she joined service of Vairë with the aim of weaving together all the acts of the House of Finwë in the Tapestry of Time.
