As the daughter of Baragund, the spouse of Húrin Thalion, and the mother of Túrin Turambar, Morwen belonged to the Adan family of the House of Bëor. Eledhwen, also known as the Elven-fair, was the most stunning mortal lady of her era. She was tall, dark-haired, bright-eyed, majestic, and endowed with exquisite beauty. In addition, she was a reserved, stern and proud woman. Born in Ladros, northeast of Dorthonion, Morwen was the daughter of Baragund and an unidentified wife. Húrin from the House of Marach was her husband. Following the Dagor Bragollach, she and her people traveled across the Ered Wethrin to the northeast. After suffering significant losses, they eventually arrived at Dor-lómin in Hithlum, where they were warmly welcomed by the folks there. It was here that she and her husband had their three children, Túrin, Niënor Níniel, and Urwen. Húrin later left to fight in the Nírnaeth Arnoediad and never came back as the battle was lost. The wild Easterlings then arrived in Hithlum to claim their new country as recompense for their battles on behalf of the Dark Lord following the defeat of the Union of Maedhros. The Easterlings were brutal and kidnapped a large number of slaves, both children and adults. To keep Túrin from being captured as a slave, Morwen sent him to Doriath and the court of King Thingol in opposition to the new Easterling lords who had taken over territory of Húrin. But none of the Easterlings dared to take home of Morwen because of her amazing beauty, which made them assume she was a witch with magical powers and was working with the Elves even though she lacked both of these things. Once the majority of the threat had subsided, she proceeded to Doriath in search of Túrin. NiÑnor disobeyed her orders and followed her, although Thingol approved of her.
