The twin Half-elven sons of Elrond and Celebrían of Rivendell, Elladan and Elrohir were well-known for their actions during the War of the Ring as well as for their close friendship and collaboration with the Dúnedain of Arnor, Rangers of the North, and Men in general. TA 130 was when Elladan, Elrohir were born, and they also had a younger sister, Arwen. They were the sole grandsons of Lord Celeborn of Lothlórien and Lady Galadriel through their mother Celebrían. The brothers freed their mother from the clutches of the Orcs in TA 2509. Despite her physical healing by Elrond, she lost all joy from Middle-earth after experiencing dread and torture at the hands of the Orcs. The following year, she left for the Undying Lands. The hate of the twins of Orcs was a result of this. By the year TA 2933, Elladan and Elrohir rode out with Arathorn II, father of Aragorn II Elessar, to fight the Orcs. After Arathorn was killed there, his wife and son moved to Imladris, where Elrond adopted Aragorn as a foster son and gave him the name Estel.
