The West Sikkim District of Sikkim, India, is home to the alpine glacial lake known as Samiti Lake. The lake is situated at the base of the Onglakthang Valley, which is part of the Himalaya mountain range and is near to the bases of the mountains Pandim and Kangchenjunga. The elevation of the lake ranges from 4,200 to 4,300 meters. The lake is 230 meters broad at its widest point during maximum saturation. In the indigenous Sikkimese language, Samiti Lake is referred to as Bunmoten Choo. The people in the area regard it as sacred. Long-distance hikers frequently stop at Samiti Lake en route to the well-known Goechala Pass, which is also regarded as a picturesque location for camping and photography. Sheep and cattle are brought by local farmers and herders in the spring and early summer, particularly in the summer, so they can graze on the coast and drink from the lake. Numerous mosses can be found on calcareous rocks and boulders. In the spring, perennial plants swell out surrounding the lake. The coastlines are home to thriving rhododendron forests, which blossom every spring. The lake is transparent and emerald-green turquoise hues draw tourists. In the winter, the lake freezes over, and in the spring, it melts away to reveal blooming plants. The water from the melting snow in the mountains is considered a sacred source by the inhabitants for the Prek River. The Dzongri Trail leads to the lake, a picturesque location that takes at least two hours to reach. The lake is located near the borders of China to the north and Nepal to the west, and it is 22 kilometers from the closest populous area, Yuksom, to the south. #Heritage #India
