French painter and draughtsman Jean-Antoine Watteau (baptised October 10, 1684–died July 18, 1721) helped revive interest in colour and movement, as seen in the works of Correggio and Rubens. By converting it to the less austere, more naturalistic, and less strictly classical Rococo, he revived the declining Baroque style.
