The Wedding at Cana (1563) and The Feast in the House of Levi (1573), two extraordinarily huge historical paintings of religion and mythology are remarkable examples of work by the Italian Renaissance painter Paolo Caliari (1528–19 April 1588) based in Venice . Also known as Paolo Veronese, he was a master of colour and after experimenting briefly with Mannerism, he eventually adopted naturalist painting approach of Titian.
