County Wicklow is a particular county in Ireland. The Eastern and Midland Region and the province of Leinster both include the final of the old 32 counties, which was founded in 1606 A.D. The counties of Wexford to the south, Carlow to the southwest, Kildare to the west, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to the north, and the Irish Sea to the east, all border it. The name Wicklow is derived from the term Víkingaló, which is Old Norse for -Vikings-Meadow, the county town of Wicklow. The local government of the county, i.e. the Wicklow County Council, had 155,258 residents as of the 2022 census. Of the 32 counties of Ireland, it is the seventeenth largest by area and the fifteenth largest by population. It is popularly known as the — Garden of Ireland — for its beautiful landscapes, which includes vast woodlands, natural trails, beaches, and historic ruins while providing scope of variety of activities like walking, hiking, and climbing. With respect to both the parameters of size and population, it is by far the fifth-largest of the 12 counties of Leinster. Being the last of the historic counties of Ireland, County Wicklow, was founded in 1606 A.D. by acquiring territory that had previously been a part of counties of Dublin and Carlow. It was created as a separate county with the intention of policing neighbourhood organisations like the O Byrnes. After the unsuccessful Irish Rebellion of 1798, government troops constructed the Military Road, which runs from Rathfarnham to Aghavannagh and traverses the mountains from north to south. This was done to help them subdue the rebels who were still present in the Wicklow Mountains. It gave them access to a region that has long been a centre of Irish uprising. The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation was constructed next to the ruins of a number of barracks that were built along the road to accommodate the soldiers. Firearms ranges in County Wicklow are used by Irish Army battalions for tactical drills, particularly the largest range in the Glen of Imaal, which was originally used by the British Army before the independence of the country  [Information Credit : County_Wicklow, Wikipedia Wikipedia-Link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Wicklow ] [Image: Green Grassy Hill; Wicklow, County Wicklow, Ireland; ; Image-Credit : tom balabaud , Pexels; Image-Source-Link : https://www.pexels.com/photo/green-grassy-hill-3404361/  (Please Relate to Source Image-URL for More Image Usage Property and License)]
