South-east of Lamberhurst, in the River Bewl valley in Kent, England, sits Scotney Castle, a country house with formal gardens. The National Trust manages it. Lambert de Scoteni is listed as the estate-owner in the earliest document, which dates to 1137. The castle was built by Roger Ashburnham between 1378 and 1380.
