In Rome, Italy, the Pantheon was once a Roman temple and is now a Catholic church as of AD 609. It was constructed on the site of a previous temple that Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa had ordered constructed during the time of Augustus, 27 BC–AD 14. The first temple was destroyed by fire, and the current one was ordered by the emperor Hadrian and likely consecrated about AD 126.
