Conwy in North Wales is home to Conwy Castle, a fortification. Between 1283 and 1287, Edward I constructed it as part of his conquest of Wales. The combined defenses, which were built as part of a larger project to build the walled town of Conwy, cost about £15,000, which was a significant amount at the time.
