Adjacent to the present-day village of Tazoult in Algeria is the Roman archeological site known as Lambaesis. The Roman army established Lambaesa. The camp of the third legion, Legio III Augusta, appears to have been its origin during the reign of Hadrian, the Roman emperor, between AD 123 and 129.
