The sixteenth-century tower house known as Dunguaire Castle is located close to Kinvara, which is also often written as Kinvarra, in County Galway, Ireland. The Dun i.e. Fort of King Guaire, the fabled King of Connacht, is where the name of the place comes from. The defensive wall of the castle and 75-foot tower has both been repaired, and the lands are open to visitors in the summer.
