Located near Colchester, Essex, England, Colchester castle is a Norman castle that was constructed in the latter part of the eleventh century. Because the castle was constructed on the ruins of the Roman Temple of Claudius in Colchester, it has the largest surviving keep of any kind in all of Europe.
