The gothic Teutonic fortress Bytów Castle was once the bastion of the Pomeranian dukes. Situated on a hill in southeast Bytów, the fortress was constructed around 1390 by the Teutonic Knights. The construction of the castle was overseen by Mikołaj Fellenstein between 1398 and 1406. The 49-by-70-meter stone and brick fortress was built according to a rectangular blueprint.
